Hey it's Sunday
I've been up and about a while but have a last minute visit from the I-L-s later so been running about the place doing the usual and itching to get in the Crafty Cupboard so just posting a very quick one this morning to enter the Colour Q Challenge and Pixies Crafty Snippet Playground. Although it's CAS again I think I've 'played ball' with the snippets as I did have to dig and delve for scraps to make this one! LOL!
Oh I've just realised it's Anything Goes over at Papertake Weekly this week so I'm going to drop it in there too as I've missed that challenge for a few weeks.
Having uploaded this photo I must apologise for the naff photography. It was taken in daylight yesterday but it was so dreary here that we had to use additional light. The top band of spotty pink is much darker in the 'flesh' and a much better match for the challenge than the photo implies.
Please, please if anyone has any tips on getting good quality pictures in poor light let me know. I'm sort of dreading blogging in the next few months wondering what sort of quality the pictures will be, especially when my in-house photographer (Mr Dazzle) leaves for work in the dark and gets back when it's dark! Hmmm will I have to learn to use his hi-tech camera! URGH! Yes tips would definitely be appreciated.
Catch up with you all later and enjoy your day.
Card Recipe:

Sentiment: Memory Box Die
Flower Die is from Joy Crafts and the 'lollipop sticks' (sentiment banners) are MFT die-namics

Lovely snippets card Sarah - so clever to repeat the colours in the flower that are in the 'emery boards'.
ReplyDeleteWill you be wanting to join in this week's prize draw? :)
Ack though, photographing cards in Winter - nightmare! Unless you go the whole hog with a light tent thingy, do you have a daylight lamp for your crafting? Mine has an arm that swings up with the lamp in (like this one here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/DAYLIGHT-SPECTRUM-CRAFTLIGHT-METALLIC-THE/dp/B001IPP2D6/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1378636088&sr=8-5&keywords=ott-lite) although mine doesn't have a tilt and twist action. I tend to prop a piece of card against the part back of the lamp and then prop my card up against that with the light arm right above. It's hit and miss here in the Winter I must admit - hit and miss all the time really :(

ReplyDeletePretty card Sarah-and what a great use of those colours!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I can't help with the lighting issue(I only take my card piccies in daylight by the window otherwise they go a funny yellow colour!)
I have seen a "home made" light box on the internet made from a large cardboard box (laid on it's side )with the two sides and top cut away and replaced with white tissue paper-then a lamp placed to the side letting the light flood into the box-the pictures were taken with a white card base and background within the box, will see if I can find the link for you :)

There you go this might help ?

This is lovely Sarah! On the subject of photographing your cards, I can strongly reccomend getting a daylight lamp and a light box. I have a daylight bulb in the ceiling and an extra portable lamp. I then hold my lamp to my card whilst pointing the camera with the other hand, making sure to move the lamp around to avoid shadows. Hope that helps :)

Hi Sarah
ReplyDeleteFabby use of your snippets!!
Great finished look.
Hope you had a good weekend.
Love Jules xx
Such a pretty card, great way to use up those snippets!
ReplyDeleteI see that some people recommend a light box, and I use a homemade light box, made very inexpensively with foam core board. I have pictures if you would like to see them....you only need a gooseneck-type lamp and you can shoot pix at any time. I also lighten my pix with my photo editing program; I use Picasa as it is free and easy; PicMonkey is also easy to use too.
Thanks for playing with the CQC this week!
Cute card, love the bloom with the polka dot center! My hubby bought me a little light tent awhile back and I just love it. I use it with and external flash as well as the flash on the camera.
ReplyDeleteOoops almost forgot, Thanks for joining us at the ColourQ!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, Sarah - I love the flower. My photography is very hit and miss so definitely can't offer up any helpful suggestions :) Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card, Sarah, love how you laid out the sentiment! So happy you joined us at the colourQ.
ReplyDeleteI am hopeless with photos but lately have been taking my photos in my own homemade light box. I stack a Ufold white board on a white foam board and then add a white foamboard lid. I then drag my Ott lite so it slants into the box. I need to use a second Ott lite bit make do for now with careful lamp placement.
ReplyDeleteBut mine are still not great...just a tad better than B4.
