HOW OLD ... 97!

Happy Sunday

Another scheduled post I'm afraid but I will be trying to view your blogs from abroad, fingers crossed the WiFi connection will be playing ball - especially as I'm heading to Pixies playground with this creation along with a couple of other challenges.

You might be wondering who is 97 and whether you've read it wrong.  No you haven't!  My dear Nanna will be this ripe old age whilst I'm on holiday so had to whisk this into the post early.  She is such a fun lady despite old age and declining health; she's always got a giggle up her sleeve and a song on her lips. Fantastic spirit for an oldie so just hope her genes pass my way!

Card Recipe:

Image & Sentiment: OLD and I can't remember - should fit nicely with the Creative Inspirations Challenge!
Papers: TK Maxx & Glitter card from my stash
Buttons, bakers twine and pearls from my stash
Dies used Sizzix Framelit Banners & Ovals plus Martha Stewart Butterfly punch
and the background die was a lovely freebie from Dies to Die for and I couldn't resist leaving the centre piece in too and just removed the butterfly pieces.

Challenges:

Pixies Snippet Playground - Week 85
Papertake Weekly: Anything Goes (optional extra of Vintage)
Creative Inspirations: Something Old (Teddy bear and Glitter Papers)
Something New (Dies to Die for oval florish Die and TK Maxx papers)
Ready Teddy Go Monthly Challenge - Dies, Cuts & Punches (see above recipe list for what I've used)

ALOHA HAWAII ...

Morning All

First of all did I say that I would have lots of crafting time during the school summer holidays?  That was the plan but certainly not happening much yet...

Secondly I haven't had to hide in a darkened room since Monday following THE shopping spree!  I survived JUST; it was quite painless - not so much on the purse though where my son was concerned but on the plus side my daughter was pretty disappointed at what was on offer.  On the down side I had to take her to Liverpool on Wednesday to conclude the holiday shopping which was much more successful in her opinion.

We had a family outing in Liverpool for my Dad's birthday; he loved the Grandad card too.  He went for a cultural day at the Art gallery but my mum chose the shops and I think it's the first time in about 50 years that she's hunted out bikinis - brings back memories I guess of times gone by with a perfect figure!!!!

So it's my birthday today and my treat is to spend a day crafting if I can find my mojo.  The shopping can wait, the iron has been locked up, I'm being taken out for a meal this evening so no cooking required!  I may put the washer on if I can prise myself away from all that glitters and sparkles in my cupboard.

Anyway on to my cards - and I have 2 to post today.  The first one is for one of my American cousins who is moving to Hawaii next month with his young family.  What a fabulous holiday destination for the family - hope he's plenty of room but I think my crafty auntie will miss her gorgeous little granddaughter.

RIBBONS, PINS AND SUNDAES

Morning All

I was so excited about the new Yummy image I used yesterday from The Paper Shelter that I had another dabble with it to enter into the Creative Inspirations Challenge - Anything Goes with an option of Ribbon.

I thought it might be good to make a feature of this delicious ribbon and I've added a few glitzy pins too.

WELCOME IN A BOX LITTLE ONE

Can you believe it's Thursday again ... and not only that it's Thursday evening too?  I don't know where this week has gone.

But I have something to show you today as it's my first day off work today and I can't say I was too upset by the change in the weather!  At least if it's raining I don't feel too bad at hiding away in the cupboard!  So after a quick walk with the dog and a flick around here and there with the housework I set to.

I may even get chance to show 2 posts tonight but will see how it goes.

My first isn't a card - it's a box.  I make quite a lot of memory boxes for special occasions and this is one a friend at work asked me to make.  It's basically like making an extra large card.

I've used this weeks sketch from the Papertake Weekly Challenge and I'm going to enter it into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge where the theme is Anything Goes with optional card candi (yes to that tick box)  and Creative Inspirations.  Another Anything Goes week with a ribbon option (so a yes in that box too).

GET WELL SOON LITTLE FELLA

And last but by no means least - third card created today!  Phew must be a record for me.

My son's girlfriend has a little brother who has been in hospital this week so I decided to make him a little card to cheer him up and amazingly the image I chose has the colours featured in this weeks colour challenge over at Creative Inspirations.

Now I need help ... a non-essential element of the theme at Creative Inspirations is any card but square so I thought right I'll have a go.  And I've been having a go all afternoon with my Personal Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge which features a 'book' setting but could I get it to work? NO!  In the end the centre of my card is shaped as I wanted but I'll have to hold my hand up defeated and the rounded corner punch came out.

With all this stress I couldn't begin to put a fancy design together so I popped across to Papertake Weekly and grabbed one of their sketches.  Their challenge this week is Anything Goes so my Get Well Soon Fella can have a go at competing there too I think.

Finally I would love to know if any of you intelligent crafty people can give me any hints and tips on how to achieve a shaped card with a Personal Cricut Machine before I kick the machine around the room!!! LOL!

Enjoy the weekend and hope to catch up with you all over the weekend too. x

So here's my card followed by the sketch:

SWEET BIRTHDAY FOR A L'IL SISTER

Hi All

Hope you are enjoying the weekend ... another lovely day here although as soon as I sat in the deckchair the sun disappeared behind a cloud!  Thankfully I'm not a sun-worshipper so an excuse to hit the cupboard instead.

I adore the weekly Sketch Saturday Challenge and this is primarily what I created this card for as the sketch fit with what I'd planned.  My little sister has her birthday next month and this lovely pre-coloured image from LOTV reminds me of us as kids.  I was always fair haired and Lou dark so hope she likes.

Bit of a bonus too as a couple of other challenges seemed appropriate too so it's going to be a record challenge week for me.

And here's the sketch if you want to play along:

Card Recipe:

Papers: Studio Calico and Pink Petticoat (sorry don't know about the backing one)

AND ... THEY'RE OFF!!!

Me again.

Not sure I did end up with the creative juices flowing after all but I did produce a card which is for my mum to send to her B-I-L next month. He likes to put the odd bet on the horses hence the theme...I really struggled to find a digi-image that was appropriate and I bought this Ron Leishman cartoon image so long ago that I can't even remember the site I purchased it from anyway hope it passes for a card.

I'm going to enter it into a couple of challenges:

Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Little Miss Muffet - Sketch Challenge (Ooooh ... I do love Sketches!)
Creative Inspitations - Anything Goes

So here's my card, followed by the sketch if you want to play too:

Card Recipe:

Papers: Dovecraft and Studio Calico

Hot Fix Nail Head Stars from my stash
I've also used a Die-namics Chevron Die for the horizontal border

GIRLIE PINK FOR A GORGEOUS 1 YEAR OLD

Me again ... I don't know - I go AWOL for almost a week then posting mad.

BUT I'm a little late over at the Snippets Playground so hope the gates aren't locked.

One of my darling nieces will be one next month so here's her card and I've used mainly snippets! June and July are my busiest birthday months so lots to do ... do you get months like that too?

Here's my entry:

I also thought I'd enter my card at Creative Inspirations too where the theme is BINGO using this card.  I've gone for a diagonal line using PINK, FLOWERS & POLKA DOTS so hope that's ok.

Card Recipe:

Image: LOTV - pre-coloured images are fantastic and I've added a dusting of glamour dust for extra sazzle!

TIME FOR SOME GARDEN-TIME

Evening All

While catching up on blogging today I noticed a lovely sketch challenge over at Creative Inspirations and I set to and made a little Fathers' Day Card.  I don't know about you but I'm never sure whether to add flowers to male cards... I guess those guys who toil away the hours in the garden wouldn't mind a few flowers to show their hard work wasn't for nothing; but I used buttons instead today so hope that's ok.

Card Recipe:

Image: LOTV
Papers: Pink Petticoat and Lakeland Limited (quite old ones that I've re-discovered)
Sentiment: Digistamp Boutique
Buttons and Twine from my stash
