Ok probably the most recognisable Australian skyline ... but in the
absence of other 'Down Under' symbols in my stash I had to go with it!
It's from the Bon Voyage set by Clearly Besotted and I've masked the image
before stencilling the sun rays using a Tim Holtz stencil with distress inks.
The panel is die-cut using an MFT Die-Namics Stitched Square die and the
sentiment is from the same Clearly Besotted set.
I'd like to link this one up at Simon Says stamp: Wednesday Challenge
where it's an Anything Goes theme.
Having never been to Australia despite having long-standing friends who
constantly ask us to visit, I imagine it's one big beach, with beautiful blue seas,
bright sunlight every day. Basically summer all year round with lines of flip-flops
(or thongs as the Aussie's call them) lining the beaches! Idyllic YEP!
So with that picture in mind my card uses the Clearly Besotted: On The Beach set,
with a sentiment from Design a Tree and the Rounded Tag die, also CBS.
The die-cut sun is from Lil'Inkers and distress inks to create the 'sea' with a
torn frothy / wavy edge. The flip-flops are watercoloured with Distress inks and
drizzled with glossy accents. I couldn't resist adding a couple of sequins for added sparkle.
That's all I've got for Down Under but I've no doubt you'll WOW us
with your creations this week and I can't wait to see what you've got!
There's more inspiration from Kylie and the Design Team on the main blog HERE
and I'm sure they'd love you to visit them at their own blogs too.
Thanks as always for stopping by and I'll be back tomorrow with the
latest challenge details for AAA Cards.
Fabulous cards, Sarah. The brilliance of the yellow in your first card is enough to bring a smile to anyone's face, a tonic for the overcast skies!

Sarah, I am totally honoured by your hommage to Down Under. You Sydney skyline is awesome!! It really is one of the most beautiful harbours I have seen in my travels. Your second card is perfect. LOVE the thongs! I really want them!! Summer in Australia is quite varied on where you live. I'm very lucky to only have about 4-5 weeks of winter (I don't even have heating in my house hehehehe) but where I grew up it could snow at times :)
ReplyDeleteYour sunrise over the Sydney skyline is stunning, Sarah (sorry, the alliteration just happened!!) ... and what a fun beachy scene! Oh to be there in all that sunshine! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteFab cards! Love the skyline and your beach scene with the flip flops has made me long for summer :) Great inspiration for a tough theme!
ReplyDeleteI love the skyline card. I have this stamp and it is in inked, time to get it out!!
ReplyDeleteBoth clever ideas for the down under theme. Vibrant colours and fun beach scene, wish I was there!
ReplyDeleteSarah, what a spectacular sunrise over the Australian skyline, love the vibrant colors you used.
ReplyDeleteYour card with the flip flops is just beyond cute, love the surf and the sun, just beautiful.
Thank you for sharing.
Maria.
Both cards are very stylish, but I like how you have condensed the elements in the beach card while keeping it so CAS - wow
ReplyDeleteTwo fab cards. I loved the one on the LIM blog but now I see the skyline that is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards
