Honey I Shrunk The Kit #11

Hi blog friends, I'm thrilled to be sharing another day out with my fellow Honey Babes for our latest HISTK post and it was Shona's turn to 'host' the kit, which she's called .........

Honey I Shrunk the Kit logo

Here's the line up of Honey Babes followed by the picture of Shona's goody bag!

Hazel Hodgkins: Hazel's Paper Designs
Sarah Gray: Funky Fossil Designs
Shona Chambers: Twine Around
Anita Bowden: Neet & Crafty
Sarah Platt: Sazzle Dazzle Crafts ... that's ME!

Here's a picture of Shona's kit and a list of contents:

Neat and TangledSequins, Big Hugs die-cut, Awesome die-cuts, Awesome Stamp set
Winnie and WalterFriend die-cut
My Favourite ThingsHugs die-cut, Cool Cat stamp set, Beast Friends stamp set, Otterly Love You stamp set
Studio KatiaStitched Creative Nested Squares die-cut
Pretty Pink PoshStitched Rectangle die-cut, Stitched 3-window die-cut

Although I wasn't entirely sure where to go with the kit or what colour scheme to use I thoroughly enjoy playing with these gorgeous images and die-cuts. In the end I went with the colours of the sequins in the kit and tried to colour, not so successfully (particularly the otters) along these lines too so here goes.

I used a few additional items for this one: Stencils by My Favourite Things - Scallops and Concentric circles which were both inked through with distress inks and the frame die is by Paper Smooches. The images and sentiment strip are coloured with Promarkers.

For this one I dry embossed the card base with a We R Memory Keepers next level embossing folder with a basket weave texture, coloured the die-cut friend sentiment and the images with Promarkers and mounted them onto a die-cut panel from WPlus9: Sunshine Layers dies

There was no need to use any additional items on this one. I merely coloured the images and the inner squares from the filmstrip die with Promarkers as well as the BG to the Awesome die cut sentiment.

I have to admit that I messed up the colouring of the 'heart-style' yeti but his face and head survived!!! I created a little wintery scene with a purple sky (as if!!!) blended with Wilted Violet distress inks and some landscape dies from Mama Elephant. The heart frame is from WPlus9.

And just enough to make this one which I was determined to make into a Christmas card with the twinkly fairy lights around this little beastie's neck BUT I couldn't resist the Big Hugs die cut sentiment which is coloured with Promarkers and all mounted on a scalloped panel from the WPlus9 Sunshine layers dies.

Thanks for another perfect pack of goodies Shona, I've had a brilliant time playing with these cuties; it was like receiving 3 whole new stamp sets that I'd never imagined owning. I can't wait to see what you and the rest of the playmates have created with the kit!

Thanks for your visit and catch up soon.

  1. These are so fun and fabulous, Sarah!! You have made use of so many more elements in the kit than I did. I love the way you have posed that otter in the frame and those kitties peeking in and out of the film strip die look amazing. Your yeti cards made me smile too and your cool cat is exactly that. Your colouring looks great to me and the way you have used colours to go with the sequins is so clever. This was a great kit to play with and you have made brilliant use of it xx

  2. Goodness, gracious Sarah! What an AWESOME suite!! The purple and white yeti creations are snow cool! I don't own that colour purple, and boy, does it pack a punch! The peekaboo yeti through the heart makes me smile, as does 'big hugs' yeti! He looked like a big Christmas hugger to me too. The composition of your otter card is otterly inventive - the stencil background rocks! And those kitty cats are just plain fun! Puss on his cushion looks so cuddly, and your filmstrip trio is my favourite! The awesome background paired with those coloured squares is SO cute! WOW! As usual, you made magic with this very cute kit from Sho! I'm next, and just a little on the nervous side...

  3. You did it Sarah!! I was so worried when you said that you weren't so keen on colouring but I think you did a brilliant job! Love the shaker card you created for your first card, the stenciling is a fab background and I think the otters are coloured perfectly. Your cat on the pillow looks gorgeous and love the colours you used. Such a good idea to colour the die-cuts with Promarkers, never thought of that. Absolutely love the way you coloured the 'awesome' die-cut and the cats are so adorable in their pastel windows. Your purple Yeti card is my favourite. Good save with your Yeti head, I had a few hiccups with my 'hugs' otter card but managed to salvage it. The violet is gorgeous and love the head in the heart. And your violet Christmas card is the perfect end to your cards. That 'big hugs' die is one of my favourites and goes so perfectly with that Yeti and his open arms. I'm so glad you loved the kit and hope you have lots of leftovers too. Everyone's cards are so amazing!!!
