Less is More #369

Hello my crafty friends, it's time to announce our latest challenge at Less is More and we're stepping back in time with what's required for this one! All the details are on the main challenge blog HERE and here's our cue card.

You might decide to use a technique or stamp set that's not seen the light of day in a while or an additional element/embellishment that's perhaps no longer deemed 'fashionable' in crafting circles at the moment.

Unbelievably I've 3 cards to share with you today ... having had a 2 week Easter break I had a little extra time to craft. These first 2 use handmade paper / mulberry paper I think it was called although this one is a thicker variety than others.

For the first card I used a Columbus scalloped circle die from Mama Elephant to create a frame for the handmade paper. I stamped the sentiment from WPlus9 around the circle and mounted the 'wonderful' die-cut sentiment on foam to hide the balloon string. The balloon is from the Happy Little Stampers set 'Simply Said' and it's coloured using Promarkers.

This one uses a glittery embossed handmade / mulberry paper which I've adhered to some teal cardstock then used a die-cut 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from Impression Obsessions

Last but not least I have to admit that I own hundreds of these papery flowers in my stash; all different shapes, sizes and colours and I simply couldn't resist using them along with 2 mini sparkly brads in the centre (another of those no-longer-fashionable craft items).

I used some of the foliage stamps from Altenew Vintage Flowers to create a backdrop for the paper blooms but I'm not sure it's working for me! The sentiment is by Happy Little Stampers, our sponsor this month at Less is More.

As always there's loads of fabulous designs from my fellow teamies  over on the Less is More blog HERE and as I mentioned earlier, our sponsor for this challenge is Happy Little Stampers so do play along for a chance of a prize, which we'll announce at the start of next month.

I hope you'll feel inspired to play along with and have some crafty fun along the way.

Thanks for calling by today!

  1. A gorgeous array of blue/turquoise/teal cards so I'm in love with them already! I love that you used mulberry paper and that's a reminder that I have a little forgotten folder full of it! Used in a CAS way like these two it looks great so you've inspired me to get mine back out again. And yep, I have lots of those flowers too, albeit only white. I think these look great paired with the leaf stamping behind, a great combo of old and new crafting. Fab work xx

  2. Well, I'm gobsmacked Sarah! Not just that you made 3 cards (ahahahaha) but that you have made paper flowers look sooooo cool! That was pure genius to team them with the funky stamped foliage. The mulberry paper looks fab too - love the glittery one. And thanks mate! You've done it again....I need that die from the top card now. I must go and comfort my purse now as it is crying. ;-) Have a fabulous weekend xx

  3. Last blog to visit and still another two products that I have also in my stash but totally forget to use ! And you've done three wonders with them ! It's incredible to see that even with old stuff we still are able to make CAS cards ! Your mulberry paper cards are so gorgeous (normal they are blue !), I love them. And I love the look of your paper flowers brilliantly highlighted with the grey stamped leaves behind ! You totally rock again, Sarah ! Hope you have a great weekend. Hugs xx

  5. I remember mulberry paper! I think I might still have some! I love the natural look and feel of it. Great cards -your first one with all the details and die cutting might be my favorite. So many fab details on this card. Also your third card is pretty mind-blowing -you've brought these fabric flowers to 2018 with style, they look very contemporary and pretty paired with that Altenew foliage. Great job! xxx

Love the mulberry paper(drawer full) and who doesn't have a stash of fabric flowers somewhere at the back of the cupboard, I have. :)

  8. All beautiful cards, Sarah! Mulberry paper and papery flowers are two more products I’ve never used before. I agree with the others... you’ve managed to make them all look current. Had I not read your post, I would have never known. Your third card is my favourite. Love the colours and that foliage background. Well done! xx
