Less is More #373

Well hello my crafty friends, I cannot believe that it's almost a month since I posted something on my blog and I feel totally 'out of it'.

May was a really crazy-hectic month for me work-wise but compensated with a very much deserved treat at the end of the month - a week in Portugal. I'm still trying to re-adjust to life back home, having been spoilt rotten in the sun.

Fellow team buddy, Sharon, may beg to differ on the 'sun' as she lives out there and seemed to think the weather was a disgrace!!!  It was an absolute delight to meet up with her and her hubby for an afternoon of chit-chat over drinks and ice-cream!

Anyway enough reminiscing and back to the reality of announcing our latest challenge at Less is More which is all about friends! Why not? They are so special and particularly those who share this beautiful hobby and keep boosting our confidence whenever the mojo has gone AWOL!

All the challenge details are on the main challenge blog HERE but here's the Cue Card followed by my cards.

Our sponsor for this month is Uniko and my first card feature some of their products and Bev (owner/designer) is joining us as a Guest Designer for this challenge too.

... using the new Chrysanthemum stencil, inked with Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Mermaid Lagoon, followed by a camouflage die-cut 'friend' sentiment from Paper Smooches, which is  mounted on 3 layers of teal cardstock to add a little definition and dimension. The sentiment is from the Pure Florals Cosmos set.

next up ... and a little 'note to self' here - DO NOT try to be inspired by Jennifer McGuire after a month away from the craft room!!!! LOL! Did anyone else watch THIS

Well it took me much longer to create my card than dear JM and still I couldn't get the die to partially cut!!! It's a rose die-cut from Memory Box, mounted on 4 layers of white cardstock with a (previously prepared) brusho panel behind and a strip of glitter tape to 'hide' the mess of the failed partial die-cut!

I'm not sure what company the 'friend' die-cut is from and to be honest I was just grabbing anything from my 'scraps' box to get this card finished at that point! The 'You are Awesome' is an Altenew sentiment from the Painted Butterfly set.

As always there's loads of fabulous designs from my fellow teamies over on the Less is More blog HERE and please do visit them as they have definitely worked magic with the challenge!

As mentioned above our sponsor for this challenge is Uniko so do play along for a chance of a prize, which we'll announce at the start of next month.

Thanks for calling by today!

  1. What a fab post Sarah! You made me laugh so much about the JM comments and I can just picture you with your struggles - but what a stunner the card turned out to be! And the sensational inking through the beautiful stencil on the first card is so inspiring. Yes, you rocked this challenge. It was so lovely to meet up with you and your hubby - gosh it seems a lifetime ago now (and the weather is STILL disgraceful over here) ;-) Hope we get to do it again soon xx

  2. Two gorgeous cards here Sarah! Seriously love the stencil on the first card and the awesome colouring too. The second card is just as pretty, love that amazing die also 😀 hugs Viv xx

  3. I have not seen this JM video but your card looks stunning and immediately gave me an idea for one die that I own -thank you so much! I think I definitely must CASE this! I adore the color scheme in both of your cards, my favorite blues are used here. The new Uniko stencil is a stunner and I love the hidden die cut sentiment. Brilliant work with both cards -you are not at all in "a holiday shape" if you ask me!! Have a good week.

  4. I tried that technique from JM too, she always makes it look so easy!

  5. Two beautiful cards featuring two cool diecut techniques, Sarah! Your hidden friend sentiment on your first card looks fabulous — great minds think alike! 😉 Flawless ink blending and a striking colour combo. Now for your partial die cutting... you did an incredible job! Love the colours here too and a fantastic design to show off your partial die cutting. You may have taken a little vacation, but your cardmaking skills definitely did not! Nice work, teamie! Have a wonderful week! xx

  6. Two gorgeous cards, Sarah ! Love the shades of green of your stencilled chrysanthemum and the hidden "friend" sentiment is amazing. I should more often think to this technique, it's so beautiful. Your second card is also stunning, with this gorgeous brushos BLUE background. After reading your post and laughing a lot, I had to watch JMG's video and luckyly I don't have this kind of dies ! 😂
So glad to read that you had a wonderful holiday break in Portugal, and lucky you were to meet up with Sharon ! Hope this week back is not too hard. Have a great coming weekend ! Hugs x

  7. Beautiful cards, love this colour. I hadn't seen the JM clip so TFS, looks like an amazing technique although I'm not game to try it, at this stage anyway lol, Cathy x

  8. Just gorgeous, Sarah. I now have that stencil and trying to find the time to use it! I love these colours too so that first card is perfection to me. I missed that JM video but just watched it, what an awesome technique and a great save by you, loving your card. Keep at it, you'll achieve perfection in no time. So envious of your little holiday, but lovely to have you back for this challenge xx

  9. Two stunning cards, my favourite colour combinations.
