Hi there ... whoosh! I think I've lost a week!
I cannot believe it's Saturday already and time for another challenge
at Less is More
First of all a HUGE thanks for all your FABulous entries
in the birthday challenge you certainly pulled everything out of the bag.
It's much appreciated having so many followers of the LIM challenge
and great to see your happy faces as you comment on each others cards.
Well done - prize winners will be revealed soon.
So onto this week and it's the turn of the
ONE layer card - with a LOVE theme
Now I don't want to be a party pooper but I'm slightly fed up of all
these hearts, hugs and love cards - seems to have been everywhere
since I put the Christmas tree away! So at last today is Valentine's Day
and yippee we can move onto something else from next week!
So if you don't want to get all loved up and slushy you can skip the
hearts as I have in this one (well almost)!
Edit: it seems I may have inadvertently stretched the boundaries / cheated
on this one layer card as my inlaid die is supported with a 'layer' of tape at the back.
I couldn't wait to use this new die but perhaps using it as a stencil
and inking through would also create a similar effect without cheating!
Do hope you'll forgive me for leading you all astray.
Would love to know your thoughts on this.
If you follow my blog regularly you may notice I've
got a bit of an obsession for rainbows at the moment ... think it's
the lack of sunny spring-like weather in the UK!
I get lots of inspiration from Laura Bassen with her super
rainbow-effect / colourful creations eg. HERE
plus another video I watched this week by Julie Ebersole
which gave me the idea for this card.
Card Recipe:
Lawn Fawn: LOVE word die (inlaid)
Sentiments: Clearly Besotted - Say it in Style
Uniko Studio: Simply Said - Birthday
Uniko Studio: Heart Confetti from Balloon Bash
Inks: Ranger Dye Inks (new purchase and I love them)
Thanks to Jennifer McGuire HERE for introducing them ...
that lady has lots to answer for - including my bank balance!!!
I'd also like to enter this card at CASology
where it's all about LOVE over there too!
Oh no it's another slushy one ... My hubby has so many valentine's cards
from me this year he doesn't know what's hit him or what's up with me!
I couldn't resist inking up this set from Clearly Besotted
and can't believe I haven't already done so - I've been in a dreamy state
over it and daren't spoil it by inking it up! Anyone else have this issue?
Card Recipe:
Clearly Besotted: In Print & Build a Bug
MFT Die-namics: Coffee cup & Blueprints 15 (hearts)
I made my own stencil from these sets and inked up
with Gold Delicata ink then heat embossed with Ranger Clear EP
The bees wings are winked with stella; with 2 pearls from Hobby House for eyes.
I'd like to link this one up at Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge
where the theme is: All Creatures Great and Small
Last one for today and this time it's to link up at
Merry Monday - Candy Canes
CAS(E) This Sketch
Card Recipe:
Clearly Besotted: Naughty or Nice?
Uniko Studio: Simply Said - Christmas
Doodlebug: Sprinkles & Pearls from Hobby House
I've used the candy canes from the CBS set to make hearts
and wish I hadn't ... it has taken ages with many duds in the rubbish
despite trying it out on scrap first. This was my final attempt and I'm
not entirely happy with it but ran out of time to make anything else!
Ok over to you now and looking forward to more superb
creations from you over the week.
Thanks as always for stopping by and catch up with you soon.
Fabulous selection of cards, Sarah, I love them all, including the last one!

ReplyDeleteAll of your cards are beautiful, Sarah! Your candy cane card is adorable the way you used them with such a simple sentiment! Love it!!!! Thanks for playing along with us this week over at Merry Monday! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Sarah. Love the little Bee. Not a Valentines' person myself - we DO celebrate today tho' cos it's OH's birthday!
ReplyDeleteSuper cards as always Sarah, I can't pick between them, but they've certainly inspired me sweetie.

Lovely cards, great rainbow,...the bee one it's my favorite!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards Sarah !! Beautiful !
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards, I love inlaid dies.
ReplyDeleteElaine
Love these cards - that rainbow one is stunning (looks one layer to me!). I do love the cute CBS fingerprint stamps and your sweet bee is fabulous. I love your candy cane hearts....a clever idea but I can imagine it took ages to get right :) Have a great weekend x
ReplyDeleteSpotted your candy cane card at Merry Monday, Sarah. Stopped by to say how much I love that card and all these Less is More cards!!
ReplyDeleteWell I for one don't think inlaid dies is stretching the boundaries of a one layer card - I often need a liner on the inside for colouring if it shows through on a one layer so I think it's fine! And your rainbow one is STUNNING!

I think that an inlaid die is not a layer so wouldn't be cheating in my book but you guys are the DT so let us know!! I adore your candy cane card, very cool idea. Have a fun day x
ReplyDeleteAh, the never ending one-layer argument! lol! Well, cheat or not, this is gorgeous! Love the rainbow!
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh about your thinking of hearts and Christmas tree. :-)) Your love cards for this week inspiration are so "fresh" without classic red hearts. I love your rainbow obsession. The card is just amazing. :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday, Sonja
I love how you've used the candy canes to make hearts, Sarah! I can see that would be tedious, but well worth the effort! Lots of great Valentines too! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteSo if tape is considered a layer, is glue? Next time maybe you can glue the die cut. Just sayin'. But I do love the card with it's rainbow inking. The bee is a cutie and the candy canes hearts are a great idea, even if it took several tried.
ReplyDeleteLove your Bee Mine card, Sarah - love seeing hearts in yellow, so fun, and that bee is darling! Thanks so much for playing along with us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!
ReplyDeleteLove the rainbow love card Sarah, you are right about needing some bright spring weather. Still my snowdrops are out and there were some green daffodil leaves valiantly poking through the grass on the verge. They have their first lambs up at the farm so they will be with us shortly! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards ....... the little bee is so cute, and what a fab CAS design for the Candy Cane challenge at MM. xx
ReplyDeleteAS ALWAYS...I love your inspiration Sarah! All 3 fantastic cards, and a bonus to see one in the CTS gallery!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously... that first card ROCKS! I love the rainbow of love! AWESOME!
WOW! Gorgeous eye candy here, Sarah! I love all of these.
ReplyDeleteYour candy cane one for Merry Monday is so cool. I love it. Thank you for joining us!
Beautiful cards :) love the rainbow, so bright and cheery - fantastic
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of your candy cane card!! So cute!! Your other cards are fantastic as well. I am in love with the rainbow card! Wow!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards! I love that rainbow effect on the birthday card, and that little bee is so fun. Yes, I have stamp sets that I just look at over and over!
ReplyDeleteI saw your candy cane card over at MM and wanted to see more! What a brilliant idea for the corner element to stamp candy canes! Fabulous cards!
ReplyDeleteA trio of fabulous cards, Sarah ... my rainbow loving heart adores the first one! At the risk of being contraversial, IMHO a die cut inset into a single piece of card counts as one layer ... linings don't count! Either way, it's the most delicious card! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteSuch great cards again! Love the LIM-card with the little bees and the CAS-Christmascard is so elegant, but your first card; all that jully colours...that is my favo... Have a fun week, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteHi sweetie, this is so cute, I love the colours you have chosen too, Thanks for joining us at Simon Says Challenge this time, hugs Pops x x x
ReplyDeletegreat looking cards....
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Sarah, love the rainbow it's so vibrant. Carol x
ReplyDeletethree beautiful CAS cards, Sarah! I love them all. the rainbow effect on the first is just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh my!!! I love every card you made, Sarah! You are such an inspiration!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us at CASology. Hugs, May
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah!! All of your cards are amazing. I love how you blended the colors in on your first card. I don't think you cheated at all. It still looks like a one layer card to me. Thanks for playing along with us this week at CASology.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards sarah :-) I do love the little bee one, so cute and the hear shaped candy canes are fabulous ! It may have been a labour of love, but it was worth it :-)
ReplyDeletethanks for joining us on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
luv
Lols x x x
Great cards! I especially love the last one -- fabulous take on the CTS sketch!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the rainbow card...and I don't think you're cheating at all with the tape on the back! Gotta hold the die cut in there some way! LOL! Three adorable cards!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea with the candy canes and it looks amazing, even if you can see imperfection there!
ReplyDeleteLots of CAS gorgeousness as ever
x
